Comments: The water level is coming up and the big bass have moved up shallow in the back of the coves...big rattling zara spooks have produced the biggest largemouth bass with many 7 to 11 pound bass caught....we still need more water in the lake- but it will come soon......

Over the last six weeks, we have had a hodgepodge of bass anglers at Lake Baccarac. As you know, we try to stay closed this time of the year because of the rains but have always tried to allow the local bass clubs to test the waters. As always, this time of year produces excellent action for the bigger fish. The days are longer and we are typically getting rain every afternoon. This year, we aren't getting nearly the rain we need and the only negative would be is the lake is a little low for this time of the year and we need more rain or a couple of big hurricanes, which I am sure we will get. The lake has started to get muddy at the north end from the runoff but I don't think it will have a long-lasting effect. The local Federation and co-ops have taken pride in preserving this as the best trophy lake in the world and want to extend to all of us a huge welcome and invitation to come fish Lake Baccarac.
