Lets start off with some muskie fishing. It seems like things have started a bit slow with the opener just June 2, but hey it just started! I am not one for opening days as most fish have not set up a regular schedule?? Regular schedule, what I mean is summer patterns that help you catch more fish. Some muskies are still shallow some are deep and some are just cruising. I have some reports of muskies both on the Lake and the Detroit River. Paul Lalonde(fisheye) pulled a nice 50plus inch fish east of Belle River on opening day. Paul was trolling his favorite lure a 6 1/4\" Woodie. Good job Fisheye!
Casting has been a bit slow too with lots of bait in the Detroit River with all the silver bass, white perch and carp muskies are having a feast. Most are casting spinner baits and inline spinners with some success. Try fishing the drop offs going from 4ft to 20 as these fish will be cruising for an easy meal.
Walleye fishing continues to be HOT. I fished last wknd with Kevin Hunter and went thru 120 crawlers and losing count of the number of walleyes. We were fishing Lake Erie from Colchester to Leamington with Northland crawler harnesses. It really didn't seem to matter what color blade but stay on fish using you electronics.
Walleye fishing on the east side of LSC has slowed some but some reports have them relocated to the \"240 hole\" This area is about 8-9 miles out of Belle River in 18-20 fow.
Bass season is right around the corner and it is time to stock up on those Mizmo tubes and other great baits Mizmo makes. I like the smoke, green and brown tints that produce great LSC bass action.
I had the chance to hit 4 lakes in 4 days with Extreme Angler TV host K-Dawg and the fishing was great. Pike and walleye were the target. We filmed walleyes in the weeds using 1/4oz hair jigs and ripping the walleyes from the weeds. It was quite different than the vertical jigging that we do on the Detroit River. The fish smacked these jigs like a \"DINE AND DASH\" Fast action as I made 5 casts and landing 4 walleyes.
