spring time brings the chance to break the new york state record smallmouth bass .on lake erie in buffalo n.y . the past week fishing has been good . with fish in the low to mid four pound range & low five to some six pound slobs are being boated . tube baits along with some drop shot rigs are producing nice numbers . green pumpkin ,pearl white, also berkely gulp leeches for drop shotting . live bait includes emerald shiners and golden shiners ,on a three way live bait rig.look for gravel , rock flats . creeks that flow into lake erie ,are a good place to start ,the water tends to be a bit warmer in the mouth off the creeks . early morning the fish are a little deeper until the sun comes up and warms the rocks . that is when the fish will move up into some shallow water . try some jerk baits at that time off day .
