Well I have to tell you that the Lake Erie walleye fishing is really starting to heat up in the West Sister Island area.

Fished on Saturday morning with Eyecatcher, Cornbread, Tuck, Steve, and a few others and didn't waste anytime getting down to business. After a 10 mile ride out, we stopped and started casting 3/4 oz. weapons, with #4 Colorado blades. Within minutes, I heard Eyecatcher yell "Fish on" and the "it was on." Cornbread didn't hesitate to show that he was up for the run either, as he quickly added two walleye to the cooler, and Tuck was right there...with a nice 4 pounder on one of the bottom bouncers, 6 feet off the bottom. Came in around 1:00pm, with 31 nice, plump walleye!

Went back out late Saturday afternoon, with a group from Central Indiana and headed back to the same general area, west of West Sister Island. We casted gold weapons and the fishing was fine. We caught 28 walleye in 4 hours and headed to the barn.

On Sunday, we cranked up the Erie Quest and set sail on a 12 mile ride and fished a little further west, than I had the day before...probably half way between the Turnaround Buoy and West Sister. We were pretty much all alone. Except for an occassional private boater passing thru. This would be my best trip of the weekend. Again, we were using gold bladed, 3/4 oz. weapons in 28 feet of water. At 1:30 we had our limit of 42 walleye and headed to the dock. I was a little surprised, as well as plesantly pleased when I watched the fish being weighed...122 pounds. Wow! Nice catch for some fine Central Indiana fisherman.

Monday was another good day, with a "limit" of walleye taken close to West Sister, about 2 miles south. Drifting & casting, 1/2 worm, gold weapons worked "low-n-slow". We ended another fine day of Lake Erie walleye fishing with 36 plump fish. It was a little bumpy in the afternoon and we had to put our sweatshirts back on. :)

Looking forward to fishing the next 6 days on the Big Pond and glad to be joined by Fishinfred, next Tuesday & Wednesday for some Erie walleye fun!

Capt. Rick
