Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 10/18/08
The gift of fall temperatures, cooling water, light winds and gobs of baitfish have just made this past week just another incredible week on Guntersville! Every day was a gift from above as we boated nearly 30 plus fish-a-day. We caught them in all sizes from 10 inches long to 4 and 5 pound lunkers. The bass have been active and in some typical fall patterns that any novice can figure out with just a few hours on the water.
I spent most of this past week in the mid part of the lake; I really never motored more than 5 miles in any direction and the bass have just cooperated with ease. We spent time fishing different baits this week, we did some jerk bait fishing, worked top water, fished Mister Twister worms and did some crank bait fishing. All of them produced fish but the most productive was my cranking bite. I have found as I have for this past month or more that the bass are just knocking a crank-bait out of your hand. It's been an easy bite to find fish and the customers are having fun and we are putting good fish in the boat. There has been some dead time on the water but not enough to get you back in your truck heading home. Find the grass work the crank bait down off the edges and you'll be catching fish!
The fall bite should continue with a little transition from the main channel areas to the creeks before we get into winter. All should be great and you will enjoy your time on the water over the last 4 weeks or so of the fall bite!
