Tight Line Charters Lake Lanier Fishing Report
Month- Late March
Lake Elevation- 1068.39 (-2.61)
Surface Temp- Main lake is mid 60's
Water Clarity- Main lake is clear and the upper end and back of creeks are slightly stained.
Stripers- The Striper fishing has been tough for me for the last week or so. The Bomber bite, at night, has been fair. The only consistent bite has been early in the morning and has only been lasting a couple of hours. This is typically a great time to Striper fish and it should pick up any day. We have been boating a couple here and there when fishing for Spots and Crappie.
Bass- The Spotted Bass fishing is great right now. The warm water in the back of pockets is the best for numbers and big fish. The fish are up shallow and very aggressive. The best baits have been green pumpkin finesse worms on a 3/16oz tungsten fished on a Texas rig, 1/8oz jig heads with a 3" chartreuse grub, Rapala shad raps and pearl white flukes and for big fish a 3/16 oz Spot remover with a green pumpkin trick worm. On the main lake, keep your boat in 20 feet of water and fish flats with stumps and red clay banks. In the pockets fish shallow. The afternoon bite seems to be best in the pockets when the sun has been out all day.
Crappie- It doesn't get any better or more exciting than it is right now! The fish are shallow and on blow downs on the upper end of the lake. Most days we are catching close to 100 fish with many of them being good size keepers. Today we boated 112 and kept 40. Some of the fish tipped the scales at almost two pounds. Most of the fish are being caught on a 1/32 or 1/16 oz jig head tipped with a white or a red and chartreuse tube jig. We are also catching them with small Crappie minnows under a float. Fish shallow from two to six feet.
