Lake Ray Roberts Fishing Report,

Lake Ray Roberts is a little over normal level and water is being released at 46 cfs. Water temperature is 44 to 47 degrees and stained in most areas of the lake. White bass fishing is good for the middle of winter on Lake Ray Roberts. The water has warmed up from the last cold spell we had and that makes it easier to find biting fish. The best depth this week is 34 to 38 on the drop offs. The fish are very predictable this time of year and will stay on the structure spots we fish all winter. The key is finding fish that are feeding and will bite. The best way to fill the ice chest with fish is to keep moving from spot to spot until you find a good bite going on. Sometimes it takes more looking than others but if you are persistent you can find feeding fish all winter A sensitive light action rod is a must in winter fishing to feel the light bites we get in cold water. I scale down to 12 lb. Silverthread line this time of year to help us feel the bite. A Cotton Cordell CC Spoon 3/4 oz. chrome with a Flies-By-Night chatreuse fly tied 14 inches above the spoon is what we catch all our cold water sand bass on at Ray Roberts. Boat control is very important in the Winter as the fish want a vertical presentation of the lure on the structure you are fishing. Not many people fish all winter like I do so my availability is pretty much wide open the next couple months. I am usually ready to go on short notice so if you see a pretty weather day and you want to get some fish for a fish fry give me a call.

Have fun fishing,

Tim
