Lake Ray Roberts White Bass Fishing Report

Lake Ray Roberts is normal level and water temperature is 70 to 76. the water color is still stained but is clearing pretty good in the past week. The fish think it is still April and have done a lot of moving the past couple weeks and has taken a lot of looking some days to fill the ice chest. We have been able to get limits on every trip since Easter except for a very windy day when we could not move around the lake to get on a good bite. Sand bass have been spawning the past few weeks on windy points and banks and its been easy to catch a bunch shallow when the wind allows. We have caught all the shallow fish on the "Floatin Thing" that I make and we use all summer on the schooling fish then. The last few days shallow fishing has really slowed down but the good news is fishing on the deep spots where the fish go after the spawn has really turned on. Some days it takes more looking than others but when you find a good bite going you can fill an ice chest quickly. A Cotton Cordell CC Spoon 3/4 oz. chrome color with Flies-By-Night chartreuse fly tied 14 inches above the spoon is what we catch all the deep fish on. The best depth has been 18 to 23 feet lately.

Have fun fishing,

Tim

Having spent countless hours on Lake Ray Roberts studying maps and searching the depths with electronics, he knows the the main lake structure on Lake Ray Roberts like the back of his hand. Using triangulation, he is as comfortable fishing spots in the middle of the lake as most fishermen are fishing stumps in the back of a creek.
