LAKE RAY ROBERTS FISHING REPORT
Water temperature is over 60 degrees in any cove you go into on Lake Ray Roberts as of now and the bass fishing is good in shallow grass 2ft. to 3ft. deep. We have been catching all our fish on weightless Yum Dingers and Houdini Shad fished very slow. With the wind we get in North Texas this time of year it is a challenge to fish weightless baits slowly but if you try to get the wind at your back you can have better luck. Its typical springtime fishing in that you need to cover a lot of water to consistently catch fish. The bite changes from day to day with the weather conditions. One day the fish may try to rip the rod out of your hands hitting the bait very hard, the next day the bite may be a tap and slowly swim off with your bait. Also the areas where you will catch fish will change daily, you may catch quality fish on a bank one day and the next day not get a bite on that bank. One thing for sure is there is always a chance the next bite you get will be a big fish. The water level at Lake Ray Roberts is still 7 feet low from normal level and rising slowly as we are getting much needed rain right now in North Texas.
Sand bass fishing is very good now with lots of fish being caught on every trip. Fish are still on all the main lake structure in 28ft. to 35ft. There has been some birds working on some days that will help show you where the active fish are. Still catching all fish on 3/4oz. Cotton Cordell CC Spoon in chrome with a Flies-By-Night jig tied about a foot above the spoon. Its a great time to take young people fishing.
