LAKE RAY ROBERTS FISHING REPORT
Our lake is 3 inches below normal level and water temperature was 57 on the main lake this afternoon. Bass fishing has been good the last couple weeks with the fish chasing shad in the backs of creeks and coves. We have been catching them on 3/16 oz. white spinnerbaits, Bomber 2a Chatruese and Blue crankbaits, Cotton Cordell chrome and blue 1/4 oz. super spot. Also catching a few on swim baits and Yum dingers but soft plastic bite slowed down lately. Keep in mind we were fishing in 63 degree water and 80 degree air temperature through this time.
Sand bass fishing has been very good and will continue to be as the water temperature drops. We have been catching them on both arms of the main lake on humps, roads, points and ridges. Best depth has been 25ft. to 32ft. With water temps in the 50's sometimes the birds will be on fish and sometimes they are just on bait so they are not as reliable helping find fish as they are in warmer water. We are still catching all the sand bass on 3/4oz. Cotton Cordell CC Spoons in chrome color with a Flies-By-Night sea green color jig tied 14 inches above the spoon. Sand bass will be on this pattern on Ray Roberts for the winter.
Have fun fishing,
Tim
