Lake Ray Roberts Fishing Report
Lake Ray Roberts is a foot and a half over normal level and rising from the rains last night. Water temperatures are ranging from 56 to 68 depending what area of the lake you are in. Water is Lightly stained to muddy in some areas and this rain will muddy up some of the backs of creeks. Largemouth bass fishing is good with fish spawning and pre-spawn. We are catching the spawners on Yum watermelon red Houdini shad with the tail spiked with chartreuse fished weightless. Also Yum Dingers in junebug and watermelon colors are working. It is spring fishing so any bait will catch them and a Bomber model A chart/blue in the 2a size has produced some fish this week. Another good bait has been Yum Wooly bug 4.25 inch in junebug fished t-rig with 1/16th oz. weight. Fishing real slow is the key to catching the spawning fish and has been tough to do in the wind we have had lately.
White bass fishing is excellent as long as the wind lets us get to the fish. We are fishing humps and points in 20 to 28 feet deep this week. There is some birds working some days to help find fish but if they are not the fish have been really active in this warmer water. When you find fish now on the electronics they are biting most of the time. We have been seeing a bunch of real little ones but there is plenty good size ones to fill the ice chest. Still catching them on Cotton Cordell 3/4 oz. CC Spoons chrome with a Flies-By-Night sea green fly tied 14 inches above the spoon.
Have fun fishing,
Tim
