Lake Ray Roberts Fishing Report,

Lake Ray Roberts is at normal level and water is stained in most areas with about 2 foot visibility and clearing. Water temperature is from 65 to 75 degrees. Largemouth bass fishing is good and we have been fishing

a couple patterns. Fish are mostly post spawn and bigger fish are on secondary points coming out of spawning areas. Catching these fish on Carolina rig using a blue pumkin french fry for bait, fishing 6 to 10 feet deep. The other pattern is points and flat banks where the shad are spawning. If you see shad spawning in shallow water a 3/8 oz. white spinner bait will catch fish and will catch some big sand bass in the same areas. Catching a few on topwaters early and a split shot Yum Dinger in june bug color as well.

Sand bass fishing is very good now with some sporadic schooling going on. Best way to fill an ice chest is still fishing deep water structure with a Cotton Cordell CC Spoon 3/4 oz. and a Flies-By-Night sea green fly tied 14 inches above the spoon. We are vertical jigging for most of these fish and catching a lot of small fish mixed with the bigger ones. Birds are working some days to help find active fish but just looking with your electronics in 20 to 30 feet deep is the most productive. Most of the fishing has been from Isle du Bois State Park to Wolf Island on the east arm of the lake.

Have fun fishing,

Tim
