Lake Ray Roberts Fishing Report
Lake Ray Roberts is about 19 inches below normal level with water temperatures 66 to 69. Water color is slightly stained in most areas of the lake. Largemouth bass fishing is good with main lake points still producing some fish as well as backs of pockets off of the main lake. Topwater bite is day to day with it only lasting an hour or so as the sun comes up. A 3/8 oz. Bomber Square A crankbait in chartreuse and blue color is working well. Best soft plastic has been a t-rigged Yum 7.5 inch ribbontail worm in junebug or blue flek color. Heddon Super Spook Jr. in Lake Fork Shad color and Rebel Pop-R are the topwaters we are using.
White bass fishing is very good and we have been able to get limits of keeper fish on every trip in October. These fish are very predictable and will be on the same pattern until Spring. We are fishing from Isle du Bois State Park to Wolf Island on the east arm of the lake, targeting points, humps, roads and ridges to find active feeding fish. A Cotton Cordell CC Spoon 3/4 oz. chrome color with a Flies-By-Night fly tied 14 inches above the spoon are the baits we use. We catch a few catfish and crappie most trips with these same baits. Big catfish are showing up regular now as the pics below show. Best depth this week has been 32 to 37 feet deep on the drop offs of the structure.
Have fun fishing,
Tim
