Lake Ray Roberts White Bass Fishing Report
Our lake is about a foot lower than normal level with water temperature on the main lake at 45 degrees. The cold spell we had this week dropped the water temperature 4 degrees on the main lake and this sent the sand bass a little deeper on the structure the fish use in the Winter. Fishing was good friday and saturday after the weather got above freezing. Most of the bites came from 40 to 45 feet deep in the same areas we have been fishing this Winter. With water temperature 45 degrees it takes more looking to find a good bite but the fish are always biting somewhere and if you are persistent you can fill an ice chest full of fish. Lure presentation is critical in water this cold to catch a lot of fish. Best presentation I have found is hop the lure a couple times and then hold it still very close to the lake bottom. Most bites will come as you are holding the lure still. Cotton Cordell CC Spoon 3/4 oz. in chrome color with a Flies-By-Night chartreuse fly tied 14 inches above it is what we catch all the deep sand bass on. I am always ready to go on short notice this time of year. Give me a call if you want to get an ice chest full of fish.
Have fun fishing,
Tim
