June 23 - Lake Superior is definitely packing in some warmer water on the from the Duluth piers out. You will find some surface temps near the Duluth entry in the low/mid 60's and driving out you can still find most surface temps to be in the mid 50's for quit some distance. The weather this past week has been great with the exception of the wind on Weds strong from the south. Fishing has been tough but is certainly starting to show signs of better fishing ahead. Most fish on our boat are being caught near the bottom the last couple of days in apprx. 105-108 FOW (feet of water) off the downriggers. You will find the fish are still shy so we have added a little more length out behind our flasher to our flies. Smaller dodgers seem to be better producers as of late over the larger ones too. Other captains I talked to have had some success on wire line rods with 1# weights down at 250' as well. We did have some fish come in off our full core lead rigs with some added weight as well. As always, if your looking for the most current info your more then welcome to email me and I will try to give you a timely reply! Good luck on the water!

June 12 - We have had several days of either East or Northeast winds over the past couple of weeks that have really pushed a lot of warm water in at the south end of Lake Superior. You can easily find surface temps to be in the upper 50's and putting a probe in the water reveals that there is alot of that water that has displaced the cold temps that we would normally still see around here this time of year. With that being said fishing across this end of the lake has been slow with only a few spotty catches with any decent numbers. We were working the bottom in areas on Sunday starting in the 75-80 FOW and moved our presentations out into the 100-104 FOW torwards mid-late afternoon. We had some luck pulling in 7 nice Lakers and a beautiful King salmon. Most bites came off dodgers with flies on slightly longer leads than we normally use for us tipped with smelt. We did land a few of the fish on spoons including the salmon. We were using all presentations available from lead core and riggers as well as heavy drop weighted lines. The variety was probably the answer to a few more fish in our box since the bite has been tough. Good luck out there!
