LAKE PALESTINE:
Well the bite has picked up and if you find the shad you will find the Bass. Water is still stained up North but moderate to clear from mid-lake to Dam.
Water temps were in the mid 70's and the Bass were still on the spinnerbaits. When I found the shad I found white Bass and Blacks mixed together with Bass up to around 7 lbs. hitting white and chartruse combos on the skirt colors of the spinnerbaits. Work them slowly around the flooded grasses and vegetation and hold on. Lot's of good solid 2-4 lbers. were hitting in 1-4 feet of water all day the Sun seemed to bring out Bigger Bass and had one break us off over 8 lbs.
Sam Rayburn:
Had a great day on Big Sam but the bite was tough. We caught about 30 Bass but only Buck Bass up to about 3.5 lbs. The Frog bite was on early with Black and chartruse bellies and green with white swirl ribbit frogs getting most of the bites. It got Hot early so wacky's in watermelon colors worked really well. Fished in 7-10 feet of water around flooded grasses and hydrilla.
Carolina rigged flikes in watermelon reds fished in 7-12 feet also caught some desecent Bass. Water is off color on most the Lake from North even in Mid- Lake. Dam area a little clearer. Water temps reached low 80's but really had to work for those 20 or so keeper bites.
