Line Usage!

David English along with Jerome Lowery chartered my boat for a little offshore fishing. As David and I talked he shared a few of his freshwater tips. The subject of braided line came up. David prefers to use this line when he is fishing top baits in heavy cover. According to his accounts this line cuts through the cover giving you more control of your hooked fish. Not only that, but once "hung-up" strong pulls normally will get your lure free. When it comes to monofilament line he prefers the "color green" in 17 to 20 pound test. This is the line preferred when David is pitching "buzz-baits and floating plastic worms" hooked up Texas style. The rule of thumb when it comes to these two types of line is simple: "braided means no-stretch direct strength and monofilament means some stretch along with giving power!" The bottom line is that both types of lines work quite well. It's just that now you have a choice and an excuse for purchasing more tackle, reels, and rods!
