We fished a half day with a group from Texas on Saturday. We caught some cigars and a few spanish sardines just north of Government Cut at the "secret spot" and made our way out to the edge of the reef just south of the Miami Sea Buoy. We set up with two flat lines on top from the riggers, two flats deep, one with a three ounce lead and the other with a four ounce lead, and our go to bottom rod with 65lb. PowerPro with 70ft. of 50lb. mono leader with a 2lb. lead connected at the leader with a small loop created with the tag end of our leader connection which is a no-name knot. We run a swivel and a piece of #5 wire and a #2 treble hook. Alot of our biggest kings come on the bottom rod hence the wire. We landed a 13lb. mutton, a 6lb. mutton on the bottom rod. We caught 2 nice kings on the mid-depth flat lines and finally a beautiful 60lb.plus sailfish on a sardine on the top line. The beautiful thing was seeing him eat 30 off the back of the boat as we were reeling them in to head in. What a way to cap off a good day!Check us out @ decktechsportfishing.com or (305)469-6171.
