Yesterday morning we fished all our usual early season "Hot Spots" with nada results...We decided to head down river to fish over the massive schools of Atlantic silversides & Juvie Herring that have Just moved in...Boy did it pay off. As I flew down river I quickly noticed huge flocks of herring gulls buzzing the surface of the water, boils & splashes beneath indicated that a school of stripers were present and all lit up into a feeding frenzy. As we slid into the melee a quick cast with the Sage Xi2 8wt lined with the new Airflo Cold saltwater Ridge line(int.sink) 1 or 2 strips of the tiny chartreuse clouser was all it took before the line came tight with a schoolie bass of around 20 inches. For the next hour or so we bailed the stripers on every other cast, ending up with a severe case of Striper Thumb, which effects many anglers through out the northeast...
Huge schools of juvie herring, silversides, & mackeral(early arrivals) coupled with river chocked full of Alewives means we should be in for one heck of a season.
Reservations continue to come in & I only have a handful of June dates left. Call today to set up a time.
