May has arrived and so has the Bait...Alewives that is(aka river herring)It wont be long before migrating Stripers begin to pour into Coastal Maine rivers & bays.

The run typically starts out with schoolie sized stripers feeding voraciously on everything in sight. Bigger Stripers follow a few weeks later capitalizing on the plentiful herring that are returning to their natal rivers to spawn and complete the cycle of life. We target Big Striped Bass during this time using big flies fished on 9-10wt rods with 300-450 grain sinking head lines with a short 4-6 foot 20# flouro leader.

We also use light tackle spin gear with large soft plastics like the 9-12 inch slug-go's either fished weightless or on a ball jighead. Livelined herring produce when all else fails. ask about our bait & switch secrets for fly & light tackle...it's incredible

Super Fly Charters focuses on the large herring runs that occur in the waters of Muscongus Bay & the St. George river estuary.

Please contact us to set up a time before prime dates fill.
