BOW RIVER - March 7: pre-runoff fishing at it's finest with daytime ambient temps around 50-60F and water temps near 40F. Fish are keying into hatching midge both on and below the surface. Fishing is solid with small nymphs and midge pupae as well as streamers.
CROWSNEST RIVER - March 6: late-winter fishing on the Crowsnest continues to produce numerous fish per outing and fantastic average size for this stream. Recent warmer weather has made the fish even more active, with some rising fish observed. Baetis and stonefly nymphs were the top producers this week with fish taking small streamers as well.
OLDMAN RIVER - Feb 25: Fishing was a bit slow early and late, with the peak activity coming from 11am to 3pm. Fish hit fairly steadily throughout the afternoon on San Juan Worms, midge pupae and small Copper Johns. The bulls were quite aggressive and we had numerous takes on large (5in plus) streamers both on the drift and strip. Couple of monsters on long enough to get the adrenaline going but not long enough to meet face to face. :(
