Mattern Guide Service on Sam Rayburn & Palestine
Hello Everybody,
LUKE 6: Verse 35 & 36: But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again: and your reward shall be great. and you shall be the children of the Highest: for He is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
Be you therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
SAM RAYBURN; Well if you have been on Big Sam you know it is the lowest I can remember. Old road beds are about 1 foot in some places and flats are just about exposed.
Besides that the Bass fishing has been great. This week we enjoyed 25-35 Bass days with some real Big ones comming to the boat.
Bass were hitting spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Spinners were Nichols blue shad and crankbaits were crawfish and shad patterns worked in 6-12 feet.
Wacky's caught Bass also to 7 lbs.Good colors were Phantom Tackles Stinko in natutal red purple glitter. Water temps were running from 58- 65. Lake is in excellent shape.
LAKE PALESTINE: Lake is still almost full pool with good water clarity. Water temps were in upper 50's and low 60's. Bass were hitting Nichols spinnerbaits in white/chartruse combos, double willow leafs gold in back and nickel in front. 3/8 ounce worked slowly around grassy cover and wood in the backs of the creeks.
Shad have been in the back of the creeks for about the last month with the bass feeding on them. Keep your eyes open and look for disturbed shad on surface. The Bass are near by, Phantom Tackles Natural red purple glitter worked weightless around grassy cover caught the Biggest Bass just a shade over 5 lbs.
Bass on boat house are hiting watermelon creature baits rigged Texas rig. Look for brushpiles out or around the boat house.
I will be getting on Lake Fairfield this next week and begin some reports from there. According to reports the Redfish Kill there killed alot of Big Reds in September but left alot of 20-25 inchers. Bass have not been affected as much but I heard from reports the Lake is really low also. Will get accurate report next week.
