The last part of April and most of May the sea conditions gave great fishing conditions with lighter wind and mostly south east wind. Also the wave height settled down with the diminishing ground swells from cold fronts.
The transition is clear with higher SST, More bait (bonitos and Skip Jacks) and the less rain creates more blue water close. The bite has been mixed, some king macks , mahi mahi, wahoo and of course the mighty barracudas. With the full moon of the May 22 the first Blue Marlin encounters. Smaller blues in the north east Irene went 2-0 May 20 two days before the moon and We while fishing the south west of Vieques May 23 went 1-0. The fish came really finicky and only liked the Horse Ballyhoo and not the Teasers or Lures.
Really Happy that the Summer is here and the Makaira Nigricans are arriving to our Island.
till next bite and tight lines
