May and June Report:
The fishing continues to improve as warmer water has brought in some nice skipjack tuna schools...and the Blue Marlin have followed them. Good catches of Blue Marlin, Spearfish and Ono being reported by most of the Kona charter fleet.
Yesterday, we had a great day. We tagged and released 4 billfish, one blue marlin about 200 lbs and 3 Spearfish. Earlier this month, we caught a very nice Blue Marlin last week...weighing in at 643 lbs. See photo below!
Overall the fishing right now is excellent for Wahoo and Spearfish with a good number of Blue Marlin beginning to show up for their summer run in Kona.
This time of year, I usually start with a quick Wahoo run on the rocky point in front of the harbor and can usually get one or two of these great tasting fish. And unlike some Kona charter boats, we are happy to filet up one of these great tasting fish for you and the BBQ. Then we can troll lures or try live bait for Blue Marlin and other big game fish.
