John Rivers

On Thursday November 17Th we got a nice cold front and I'm glad we did; it's been exceptionally warmer than last year. The cooler weather should help to get the reds to spawn, and when this starts to happen they start to feed like crazy on all the bait that is moving out of the rivers and upper bays.

It's been blowing 15 –25 for the past two weeks with only a couple small windows in the weather to get out and go after those reds. Thanksgiving is less than a week away, and I will be thankful to finally get my fishing fix as soon as the winds calm down a bit.

I have ventured out a couple of times and I'm happy to say the big reds are here, but with the wind blowing, it has made it tough to find them. I love fishing for these drag screamers, but ideally when it's calm out around 1 ft or less; I have an easier time spotting the schools busting bait on the surface and I can also get up in my tower to look for birds when the water is less choppy.

I'll be out a bunch the week of Thanksgiving and you can bet I will be right beside my clients hooking a few big reds myself. I have a couple of family trips coming up with smaller kids, and that means we can go after those tasty white trout by the bridges. It's fun to watch the kids get worn out from reeling in fish after fish.

Check back after Thanksgiving for more action-packed red fishing pics and reports.

Tight Lines.
