The big snook bonanza on lower Tampa Bay continues. Jeff and son Jameson were onboard for a 6 hour charter and unlike their last trip the weather was beautiful. With a live well full of lively white baits onboard we departed O'Neill's Marina with high expectations.
Our first few baits were eagerly attacked by spotted sea trout all just short of keeper size. It wasn't long before we had our first snook on a chunky 25". It went airborne numerous times finally tossing the hook back at us.
Minutes later Jameson's rod bent double and the drag began to scream. The big snook ran right, left and at us! Jameson did a masterful job and after 10 minutes was victorious. At 20 pounds and almost 40" Jameson was posing with the snook of a lifetime.
Wanting to take fish home we changed gears targeting deeper grass flats. Like clockwork we were catching trout, mackerel, snapper, flounder and sharks. The biggest trout measured 22"s a true beast for June.
Great day with 2 great guys! It doesn't get any better.
