The Fishing Report for Naples and Marco inshore was great last week, looking ahead tough times a coming.
Last weeks fishing was fantastic. The water warmed to just over 70 degrees and the fish got active. Bait was plentiful if you wanted to use it and the fish responded well to it. Inshore we were catching Snook and Redfish with the occasional Tarpon. We also caught and abundacnce of other species like large Mangrove Snapper, Trout, Bluefish, and Pompano. This week looks a little less promissing. We have some chilly weather coming which meand the water temps are going back down. Not to fear the fish are still there you just have to adjust some. Slow everything down, if you work a long a bank take extra time and work the bank. If you jig the holes take extrea time and Jig slowly. Fish will not move far or fast to get to a bait or fly so you have to bring it to them. Fly fishing at night around Marco still strong.
Offshore Fishing good but hard to get out with the wind.
Still catching plenty of Kingfish and False Albacore around the wrecks. Tons of Spanish and Bluefish out their too. Snapper fishing not bad either on the strong tide phases. On the nearshore wrecks the Snook have really picked up the bite. A live Pinfish or white bait in the Afternnon seems to do the trick.
If Flyfishing is your game on the wrecks you will need a heavy sink line and a weighted Flashtail Clouser. You want to try and reach on or near the bottom to pick these fish up. This is not my cup of tea when you talk about flyfishing, but if you want to catch a record class Snook, it can happen on any cast out there.
Eveglades Bass fishing getting good early.
I don't usually start talking Bass till after the first of the year, but it is getting good early. The Big T is fishing strong on both Poppers and Worms. Went out the other day and boated 18 to 5 pounds on poppers and landed one 30 inch Snook. Not bad for three hours fishing. Fishing along I75 has been good also, the fish are active, not large mind you but active. Reports from Jack Allen say he's catching 100 plus per day on the other side of the Alley. Good Luck and Good Casting Roan z.
