Last weeks cold front finally brought the water temps down in the high 60's to low 70's. The tarpon have finally pushed through the area and the hard fighting bonita has taken there place. I fished Sat, Sun, and Monday and each day had great fishing. The pilchards are easily netted in two throws, and none of them are going to waste. This time of year is great for keeping bait alive, so packing both wells is the key to success. The mornings started out chilly and the snook bite was non existent, so we caught bonita just off the beaches, and other mornings we caught big jacks, ladyfish, trout and bluefish while waiting for the water to warm. Each day by 10am the water was back in the low 70's and the snook bite was great. Fishing docks we managed 20-30 snook in the 23-26in range plus plenty of big jacks to 10lbs. Heavy chumming is key to getting the fish to eat, in cooler water the tend to hunker down and not be to aggressive. Throwing handfuls of pilchards really get the snook going. Thanksgiving week is looking good and Ive got eight trips so far that week, be safe with all the boats and have fun.

Bio: Born and raised in Naples, Florida I have grown up fishing the local waters. Tarpon, snook, redfish and trout are what I target most often. Tarpon fishing is my main passion and from late March-October I target them if clients are up to it. Nothing compares to a 6ft fish making huge jumps and burning off 200 yards of line.
