I've recently been fishing the Hernando beach area, and it's been rather productive. Hernando beach is home to a few springs and what I call ( hot-pockets ) these areas are prime for winter time fishing. These type of areas give off heat which the fish need because the surrounding waters are much cooler, these areas also hold a lot of bait which is another key factor to find the game fish. Using live whitebait and also shrimp has been very productive. Also when it comes to artificial, gulp and zoom sweep all of the others! Jigging these baits along the bottom has been key. In the winter, there is no such thing as to slow of a retrieve. The fish are Lethargic and will not put out as much effort as if in the warmer Months.

Tight lines, Capt. Chaz
