Sal Mattino

This trip starts from the Fort Pierce Inlet running out to pick up some live pilchards. After securing some live bait we head out due east of the Fort Pierce Inlet to 65 feet of clear water at a temperture of 82 degrees.

The bite starts out slow with an occasional cut off or half bitten sardine which usually a sign of a Kingfish attack! At this point in the trip the action was slow so we anchored up and started bottom fishing. The action was steady with Black Seabass being the main catch. After obtaining our limit of Seabass we headed to the FPL Rubble pile.

Once arriving at the spot we set out three lines two up & one down only to have all three lines get hit at once. The fire drill was on with a hefty sized Bonito along with a sky rocketing Barracuda at very short intervals.Shortly after releasing the Barracuda & Bonito a Dolphin leaped in to action! After a short fight, the dolphin decided he had another dinner engagement and decided to spit the hook!

We finished off the evening with a half dozen Vermillion snapper, one Mangrove Snapper ,two Jack crevale and a small Black Grouper.Thats it for now, stay well fish well and safe boating! I am Capt. Sal form St. Lucie Sportfishing Charters!
