Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 6/22/08
The north wind the early part of the week made fishing tough, by Saturday or late Friday the wind shifted to the south an the bass turned on again. The early week only gave up 8 to 15 fish on a trip and then we had bags of 25 to 40 fish on a trip. The down side for my customers this week was the ability to hang a big fish. The fish God just wasn't with me; as we couldn't find that big bite all week long.
Most of the week I spent in the mid to upper part of the lake, we worked several deep areas and found with the cooling waters from the north wind that the bass had moved more to the 6 to 8 foot depths. We fished humps, ledges; channel breaks and points most of the week. The key was short grass.
Baits this past week were fairly traditional; we fished top water early, Mister Twister big worms, lizards and finesse worms. Tight-line ' oz. jigs in black and blue. We also found some fish on the windy days on Punisher Lure Spinner baits, using ' oz. white and red with gold double willow leaf blades.
The jig bite is coming on and it won't be long before the flipping bite will produce all day every day.
I have days available in June and July, please call for details.
