Autumn 2014 has arrived to East Central Florida, water temperature dipping into the upper 70's, some days with a north breeze bringing a little cooler mornings, many schools of fall migrating mullet passing through Mosquito Lagoon on their way south. Inshore migratory game fish such as Jack Crevalle, Bluefish Ladyfish, follow the mullet schools, eating their fill of bait fish as they go. Resident species of Florida saltwater fish such as Redfish and Seatrout, also eat their share of traveling mullet this time of year as the parade of southern swimming bait fish are in the area. The flats of Mosquito Lagoon are my hunting grounds for shallow water redfish year round, "summer patterns" will continue for a little longer in early fall until water temperatures get a bit lower over the next few weeks. Repeat clients Marshall and Athena from Virginia had a great flats trip a short time back catching 9 Redfish on the flats during the early bite, about 10 Seatrout on soft plastic artificials over deeper grass in the mid morning, and even a lifetime first Tarpon from a school of juvenile rolling fish. Both husband and wife each caught a 29" over slot Red......................
And Marshall with his first Tarpon caught on a DOA Cal Tail lure, he landed this one after jumping a couple others....................

More repeat clients, from Orlando, son Andrew, mom Rachelle, and gramps Jim had a fun Mosquito Lagoon trip with 6 Reds on the flats and 8 Trout on live bait, fishing drop offs. Andrew caught the topper of the trip with a 35" Redfish on a live bait which was prowling the drop off we were Trout fishing along...................
First time clients David, Eric, and Rick from Tennessee fished 2 charter days with me. On the flats the first day catching 8 Redfish up to 25", day 2 having a fun time mixed bag backcountry fishing catching Trout, Mangrove Snapper, and Jack Crevalle, to name a few of the many saltwater fish we always catch on mixed bag trips. David with his largest Red........................

Vic from Orlando did his second flats charter with me, catching a few good Redfish first thing in the morning at our first stop in Mosquito Lagoon.........................

I get out on some fun scouting trips, invited by my friend on his boat a few mornings ago, searching for new Redfish spots to return to later with clients, this morning I caught a healthy Snook on a top water lure early morning......................
