Smith Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

I usually fish the north end of the lake, but this week started my trips to the south end following the stripe. This past week or so, the stripe fishing from Misty Harbor to Mallard Point got worse everyday. It was to the point that gar were thick around the lights and very few stripe were present. About this time of year, the stripe move south around the dam. So I'll be picking up and moving down there for the next month or so. For the last couple of days, I've been fishing hard staying on top of a couple schools of fish. If you're interested in fishing Smith Lake give me a call.

Two week special: 5 1/2 hour trip from 6:30pm-12:00am. 1-3 people $200-$220

Smith Lake Fishing Forecast:

Smith Lake fishing breakdown

•Bass- good early in morning and in the evening. During the day it's tough. You have to find big schools and be at the right spot at the right time to have good action.

•Stripe Bass- slow this week, fish are on the move and are scattered. Live bait is still the best choice for more action. But you can still catch them with artificials in the early morning and evening.

•Crappie- slow this week, as the water heats up they get picky and are very sluggish. Numbers have dropped in the past week or so.
