Well I finally got the break to get my 5 year old Grandson Devon on the
water for a little bass fishing. We had a blast fishing for 2 1/2 hours
then it was nature sight seeing for the next hour.We went looking for
Manatees with no luck but we did see Eagles,Ducks, and Great Blue Herons.
This was Devons first time bass fishing as we usually take him to a
small pond to catch bream. The total fish count was only five but it was well worth
the time spent with my little buddy.
Now for the report we spent most of our time fishing the river edge
just south of Lake Monroe and Devon caught the first two fish casting a
white Bitters Skip Shad along the bank.I was casting a worm along the maiden
cane bushes when I get a bite I put some pressure on this fish and she swims
out into the wide open River I call Devon to the front of the boat and
( I still can't believe I did it but I handed him a $350.00 Spinning Outfit and told him
to Jerk Hard} the fight was on and after what seemed like hours
of trimming the motor getting the trolling motor out of the water
and holding on to Devons life jacket so he didn't go over board he brings a
beautiful 8 1/4 pound Trophy boat side.I never touched the rod after handing
it over to Devon(Thank God For Power Pro} After this fish it was a must to call
my wife Jackie Devons Me Me and ask her to meet us to take a picture
of our first of many bass fishing trips together.
This will be a Day On The Water I Will Remember For The Rest Of My Life
And I Hope It Is The Same For Devon.
