The water temps are trying to get right and with the weather forecast calling for highs in the upper 70's the next 7 days the fishing is getting ready to become very good. The past two days we have seen big bass in the shallow water but with the water temps still hanging around in the low to mid 50's these big bass are not wanting to eat much.We have had some big fish in the 8 to 10 pound range knocking shiners out of the water and some of these big fish have came completely out of the water chasing my clients shiners but most just will not commit to eating the shiners only killing the bait then swimming off. This is in part from the cold water temps.Florida Trophy Bass will stay dormant during cold water temps and not move around much. With these Bass going into dormant mode they use no energy therefor they really don't need to eat to survive. Today my client Cecil of Penn was lucky enough to hook this beautiful St Johns River 7 pounder. But Cecil had three other fish that we seen hit his shiners that were much bigger but just wouldn't eat the bait's after beating on them.I have a few days open the end of Jan 25th 26th 27th 28th 29th 30th and some Feb days still open as well. The fishing the next two week will be very good with this warm weather coming so if you are looking for that Trophy Bass Of A Lifetime Please Give Me A Call. Because of the high demand for Wild Shiners during the winter months here in FL many days the local tackle shops will not have Wild Shiners in Stock. Five years ago during the shiner shortage I found myself like many other guides not having shiners for my clients when they came into town. I took it upon myself to fix this problem and built my own shiner tanks at my home. I then went out and hired a private shiner catcher to work for me and catch my bait during the winter.I keep between 30 and 80 Dozen Wild Shiners in stock at all times during the winter. This is one of the many reasons that keep my regular clients keep coming back year after year. The St Johns River is only minutes from Orlando,Disney World and Daytona Beach.Welcome Daytona 500 Race Fans!!!!!
