In a word, the sailfish bite off of Ft Pierce Inlet in december and January 2010 has been "OUTSTANDING" !
Double digit releases have been the norm for both live and dead bait tournament boaats all season long and a dozen or more release flags have adorned many an outrigger over the course of the last six or seven weeks.
The dolphing were here in force thru most of December, then gone for a bit but now emerging from the depths of the Gulf Stream to make a strong showing in 225 feet of water off of Vero Beach, just north of Ft Pierce and definitely in range of our inlet!
Kingfish abound along the offshore bar in 85-90' and sometimes create a nusience to serious sailfish boats that suffer the consequences of both bonita and kings messing up their spread.
Reports of wahoo bites in the same strata as the sails have filtered in the last couple of days and the cobia bite has also shown signs of materializing off the Treasure Coast.
Pick your day and you have a have a lot to look forward to fishing on the Last Mango or in your own offshore craft.
Tight Lines,
Capt T
