Rain, rain and more rain. That has been the topic of the fishing this past week. We are definitely on the old summertime pattern of afternoon thunderstorms which are welcomed but lightning makes anglers scurry of the water quickly.
With the weather we have been receiving the snook bite has really turned on. The inlets and beaches are full of big snook striking Rapala twitching mullet and live bait’s in their vicinity. Schools of snook can be seen a times busting bait schools in the fun clear water. The bite will get better and better as big snook spawn and begin feed heavily.
Tarpon fishing is great do to the rain in our local area. Spillways have opened up, pushing bait schools around. Tarpon are beating on these bait schools as bait is flushed with the tide. The freshwater fishing has been great for largemouth bass as local canals are rising and bait schools begin to move around with the current. These fish can be sight finished with DOA 3 inch shrimp in fire tiger color.
