Brant Peacher

Cooler weather is approaching which means lot's of activity in Pensacola Bay. I love this time of year because most of the fish give themselves away by busting baits on the top of the water. This morning I had the pleasure of guideing Kevin and his brother Josh on what turned out to be a very eventful morning.

We started the morning searching for diving birds in hopes of finding a large school of bullreds. Instead we found hundreds of 3 and 4lb spanish mackeral, so I let Kevin and Josh pull on them for about an hour. After we had our fill of spanish we headed to the flats hoping to catch some large trout. I tied a Chartruse Mirrodine on for Josh and Kevin thinking that it would mimic the small greenies flashing in the grass. It wasn't long before we started boating a mixed bag of 20in trout, 6lb blues, and more spanish. We decided to end the day targeting mangrove snapper on some structure near the boat launch. After catching 5 mangroves, 1 19in red grouper, and a flounder we decided to call it a day.

Stay tuned to my reports...The bull red run is right around the corner
