Granted Rockfish closed locally outside of Pillar Point Harbor on Halloween, yesterday. Ran down below Pigeon Point and fishing was very respectable! Nice lings, nice vermillions, chinas, olives, blacks, big gophers, great rockfish. 70 feet of water, just below the Point. Shrimp flies, 70 feet of water, squid for bait. However, a twist on squid for bait. Rick Berg, of Berg Vineyard Consulting, cut off the tough outer layer of Humboldt squid he caught last week, before preparing his for personal consumption (which he said was great, and was seconded by those that ate it!). The somewhat tough outer layer of the Humboldts was all we used for rockfish bait today! Limits of rockfish, 4 lingcod to 20 pounds.
Pigeon Point Rockfish & Lingcod
Lingscod to 20 pounds, many lost!
For those that like Vermillions, Happy Day!
