Tarpon are in Mosquito Lagoon going between 40 - 50 pounds with some fish going well over 100. On calm mornings in the deeper open areas of the lagoon, early mornings are showing the most, unlike last week where they were feeding most of the day. Run your trolling motor on the slowest speed trolling larger mullet VERY slowly covering as much of an area as possible. Sight fishing will also produce, but go with a tail hooked jumbo live shrimp.

Trout are all around the spoil islands taking Rip Tide curlytailers with a 1/2 ounce jig head in red or white. Pigs are also working well and are like candy to spotted sea trout free lining them in 3-4 feet of water. Make sure you know the "pig" technique to fish with them.

I still have a few days open in July and August is booking FAST so give me a call to reserve your true back water fishing experience!!

Bio: Growing up on the east coast of Florida I started fishing at a very early age mostly on the inshore waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Now with the experience of learning every corner of the back waters and fish behavior patterns, I am a full time fishing guide on the Mosquito Lagoon. Besides writing monthly fishing reports for my website, Coastal Angler Magazine, and various other organizations, I also enjoy working with and am on the pro staff for Rip Tide Lures, High Roller Lures, Berkley, Pure Fishing, Daiichi Hooks, and Costa Del Mar Sunglasses.
