Last Tuesday April the 27th fishing with Adam Harris and his father it was a stroke of luck that we landed on a bite that was out of the wind!
The reason I mentioned the wind is because it had been blowing 20 plus for several days and had the water all messed up. The only good thing about the wind was that it was blowing from the west and I have some areas that hold some nice Trout that are protected for the West wind.
The bad thing was that the Trout weren't there but instead the Red fish had invaded that bank and that was fine with us…
We only caught 2 nice Reds one 26 inches and the other 20 but the Rat reds showed up and for almost 3 solid hours every drift was a 14 to 17 inch Red fish. We had to float fish this area to keep for staying hung up so that made that much more fun watching the corks go down every drift.
They might not have been very big but Rat reds as we call them all hard feeding and fighting fish. What started out as thinking we would be fighting the wind all day ended up sitting in an area virtually out of the howling wind. We did have a bumpy ride back but it was well worth it…
