Tarpon are definantly here as of this past week and can be caught almost any time of the day. On my way out wed. with my clients to do some early morning top water trout fishing, it seemed like every where we looked in the ICW, poons were rollin. On our way back in after a six hour trip, they were still putting on a show. Most fish are going between 20-50 pounds. Get yourself some jumbo live shrimp or a 10-12 inch mullet and free line it along the drop offs in the channel. A live ladyfish will also work well. These fish are masters of spitting the hook, so when you do hook one and he becomes air bourne, be sure to point your rod tip at him. This will give him the slack he needs to keep the hook in his lip. Go with a 5/0 or 6/0 circle hook.

Give me a call to check out the tarpon action!!
