Bright sunny days have helped to locate fish along Florida's Space Coast reports Captain Keith Mixon (www.mixinworkwithplay.com). In the past week, cobia continue to hit bright colored buck tail lures as well as live eels when fished near the buoy line just outside Port Canaveral. "Hook Up Lures" in 5/8 ounce (model 117, tan/orange color) have worked well on days with abundant sunshine. Several of the fish caught have weighed in at nearly thirty plus pounds. In addition, flounder measuring up to sixteen inches have been caught inside the port on sandy bottoms near drop offs. Scented jerk baits bounced off the bottom while drifting has helped to locate several of these fish.

With the full moon upon us, many "gator" size trout have been hitting Heddon's 3 ˝" Saltwater Super Spook Junior (red head) in the Indian River, south of Titusville. Several of these fish have been caught near schools of bait fish in three feet of water or less. A seven foot medium light action spinning reel combo equipped with fifteen pound test mono leader attached to ten pound test Power Pro has provided plenty of excitement at night.
