February is winter in Texas, but if you can catch a nice, warm sunny day between the cold fronts and rain, the fish will bite with a vengeance! The water on LBJ is muddy and cold due to the recent rain we have had, but we are catching bass and white bass in the Colorado arm (where we found cleaner water) on these warmer days. The fish are on the move in a classic pre-spawn pattern, moving back deep when a front rolls through. Crank baits for largemouth and jigging spoons, rattle traps and grubs for white bass. Try slower presentations on overcast and colder days. The white bass are moving up into the river where again; a day or two of warm weather will really turn the bite on.
