Puerto Vallarta fishing report October 2017
The fishing has started off with tuna in the bay and has gotten better here in Puerto Vallarta October fishing. Some of the best fishing has taken place right here in the bay . These trips can be done in half a day or 6 hrs. or what ever works best for the clients. The tunas have been hanging over by Yelapa which is a little resort town about 45 min. by boat. There’s a waterfall and beautiful beach there. It’s a must stop for folks coming to Puerto Vallarta fishing or not. There has also been some snapper , bonitas, and yellow tail in real good numbers. The sailfish and marlin are coming in the bay but not in good numbers this last week.
Best is a 8 hrs trip with some bay fishing and taking the time to go offshore fishing in Puerto Vallarta. The offshore fishing has been great out by the Corbetena which can be done in 8 hrs. or 10 hrs. depending on where the fish are hanging out by the rocks there. Super place to fish where the water goes from a couple of thousands feet to almost nothing. There are several reefs and drop off points there so sonar is a must to find these fish. The marlin and tuna love these waters as the in plenty of bait fish and the water temp. is around 80 deg.
The spinner dolphins are found there and around the rocks. When you see the dolphins jumping and spinning hold on to your hat. The tuna action is about to get real.
Some days the action seems almost no stop catching huge tunas to 400 lbs all the way down to the football size tunas five lbs.
September fishing here in Puerto Vallarta is holding strong and will be getting better . The next month
Of October the biggest fishing tournament on this side of the Pacific here in La Cruz which is only 20 min. from Puerto Vallarta airport.
