Back Water:
Before this recent cold front, clearwater fishing has been awesome. Spanish Mackerel have been ravaging along the beaches as well as their big brother, the King Mackerel. This has been some of the best fishing I have seen in ten years.
They key to success has been a live well full of scaled sardines, in order to chum these speedsters into a frenzy.
Mackerel have been averaging from 4 to 7 Lbs. and the King Mackerel have been in the 15 to 35 Lb. range. This creates the perfect opportunity for the fly enthusiast.
We have hooked several big Kingfish on fly, and I have a record pending on 6 Lb. tippet, with the fish weighing in at 25.05 Lbs.
Cobia and Bullreds have been feeding on the reefs, about 100+ yards off of the beaches. Don't be suprised to hook either on of these bull doggers due to the chumming.
Triple Tail have been hanging around swim bouys and crabtrap bouys. Fish have been feeding on shrimp and small whitebait.
Inshore:
The Redfish have been on most flats that have oyster bars with potholes. They have been feeding on silver dollar size Pinfish on a popping cork.
Trout fishing is just starting to fire up. Fish are on the flats and near the passes that have deep cuts. A whitebait underneath a cajun thunder has been producing quality fish.
Top water or suspending style baits have also produced quality fish. This pattern will continue through the end of November. So let's get out and catch the action.
