Scouting for tomorrow's charter and this weekend's was the plan today. It did'nt take long to find some very happy reds and black drum schooled up all over a flat in Mosquito Lagoon. Literally, the drum were totally unspooked as I was soaking mullet chunks to the east of me with the Power - Pole down as they swam up within 10 yards of the back of my boat. Easily a school of over 100 - 150 nice size fish!

Toss them some cut blue crab or jumbo live shrimp and your pretty much gauranteed to hook up. When black drum get on our flats, they are alot less spooky than redfish, which see pressure from fisherman on a daily basis. Drum do not feel as much pressure.

The trout bite is still really good with pigfish with alot of undersize fish and several "keepers" in the mix.

Give me a ring or email me for some red hot flats fishing, and it's only going to get better with the fall mullet run near. (386)478-9555
