It started out like any other fishing trip running down the coast for 35 minutes to Chatham River. Only, Lee and Indy from Naples, Fl. started catching nice keeper size trout from the first cast on. These fish nearly pulled the rods from their hands the first two casts but they got into the rythme after that. Some of the fish were well over 22 inches. These fish slammed the jigs as if they were starving! However, these guys kept fish between 17 and 20 inches and release the larger trout. We fished the grass flats just off the shorelines starting near Chatham River and fished all of them down to Lostman's River. It didn't take long to get their limit. We saw a few tarpon on the flats around the 100lb size but we did not want to have a long battle on our hands so we moved when we saw them. When Lee and Indy got their full with trout fishing we went after the reds. There weren't as many reds as in the fall but there were plenty in a few choice locations in Lostman's River. Lee's big red went over 30 inches but he released it before I got the picture. Indy got into 2 reds he could not stop. We used a jig with shrimp and a popping cork. What a day! Let's go fishing.
