Fishing continues to be excellent aboard the RELENTLESS fishing out of Green Harbor, MA. Last week anglers from Maryland, New Jersey, New York and locally stepped aboard landing good catches of cod and haddock. The bite continues to be strong even though we need to work around the pesky dogfish. Most of the fish are being landed on bait with some quality haddock and cod coming aboard by the jig fisherman.
The tuna have arrived and the bite is very good with large fish being taken. As mentioned in earlier reports we landed a nice 66' fish on father's day. Friday was a busman's holiday with Captain Curt and Captain Shaun taking the boat out with friends and family. The day started out a little slow with hits by big stripers and blues trying to devour the large squid. If we were targeting striped bass it would be the best fishing in years with the number of large fish in the area.
Late morning the ice was broken when there were fish in the spread taking whacks at each squid bar in the spread, The port rig was never hit though and we had a knock down on the starboard with no joy and on the center rigger being trolled close to the boat, the rod doubled over as the reel screamed with the fish taking line. Capt Curt hoped on the rod and after about 15 minutes landed a nice fat 52' fish around 85 LBS.
In the afternoon the starboard rigger went off and this time Capt Shaun had the honors of fighting the fish and landed another 52' fish which was brought aboard, photos taken and released to swim another day.
The action is only going to get better as the water warms up and are booking private and shared charters for tuna, bass and cod fishing. Come aboard and try some of this great action. I can not explain the thrill of landing a tuna or even being aboard when one decides to jump on the trolled baits.
