With Winter like conditions as we headed out of Ft. Pierce Inlet we were just hoping that the fish would cooperate. We started dropping lines in at 60' of water and hoped for a quick Kingfish bite, however it wasn't until we hit 80' of water when the first reel started screaming. After a long fight we got the first King to the boat and were happy to see that it was about 25 pounds instead of the usual summer snake Kings. Seas continued to build throughout the day and we continued getting knockdowns and hookups from Sails, Dolphin and Kingfish. Had to hand it to this charter as they definitely took a beating from the waves and the fish they hooked up were not little fish either. Plenty of debris, weedlines and bait offshore, just need calmer seas to make more people willing to go.
Smokin Em ended the month of August with 10 charters for the month, looking onto our slowest month of the year being September. We have plenty of openings for great fishing whether it be Offshore or Inshore (Snook is back in season). So check us out on the web at
